The Quiet Epidemic was a 7 year labor of love that I (Winslow) co-directed, DP’d and co-edited. I came to the film through my own journey with Lyme disease and met my co-director, Lindsay Keys, at a doctors office in Upstate NY. The film was produced in partnership with Pennebaker Hegedus films.
The Quiet Epidemic had its world premiere at HotDocs 2022 as part of their special presentations program and was voted into the HotDocs Top 20 for the audience award. Since then it has been accepted into 20+ other festivals around the country, including DocNYC, Woodstock Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, Heartland Film Festival, and Hamptons International Film Festival. Lindsay and I were awarded the NYWIFT Award for Excellence in Documentary Directing, and the film was awarded Best Documentary at DOCUTAH Int’l Film Festival, Macon Film Festival, and Adirondack Film Festival.
Following its festival circuit, The Quiet Epidemic was picked up by First Run Features. Its theatrical premiere was on December 1st, 2022 at IFC Center in New York City, which kicked off a limited theatrical run across North America. As of May 2023, you can watch The Quiet Epidemic at home on Prime Video, AppleTV and Vimeo On Demand.

REVIEWS
“Through it’s masterful storytelling, The Quiet Epidemic does what any good investigative doc should do-it informs, infuriates, breaks your heart, and fills you with hope.”
-Awards Daily
”Does chronic Lyme disease exist? That’s the question that haunts The Quiet Epidemic, Lindsay Keys and Winslow Crane-Murdoch’s worthy and provocative documentary about the highly controversial syndrome. The filmmakers argue, with unflinching advocacy and some very good reporting, that chronic Lyme disease most definitely exists.”
- Owen Gleiberman, Variety
“The discourse surrounding this dilemma is dense, and there is a litany of scientific specifics to consider. But Keys and Crane-Murdoch dole out the details with care, confidence and compassion.”
-Midwest Film Journal
